Youth Business School Celebrates Dr. Joseph Obele

The October Class of the Youth Business School, YBS has come and gone but the lessons learned would remain useful to every youth that participated in the programme. The YBS which took place on Saturday, 23rd October 2021 at Molan Hotel in Eleme LGA, Rivers State had HRH Emere Godwin Bebe Okpabi KSC, JP, the Oneh Eh Nchia and Oneh Eh Eta Ogale as the resource person. The Paramount Ruler of Nchia District made up of six out of the ten communities in Eleme had presented a paper titled The Future of Youth in Leadership” and thanked the Chairman Board of Directors of YBS and his team for their innovative move to empower the youth through the entrepreneurship programme.

Highlights of the programme were lecture presented by Dr. Joseph Obele, a successful entrepreneur and a lecturer with the Ken Saro-wiwa Polytechnic Bori on the topic “Entrepreneurship, the wheel of economic development” and “Challenges of young entrepreneurs in Nigeria and the need for support,” by Dr. Michael Nwiepe.

The programme which was anchored by the Public Relations Officer of the YBS, Mr. Udeme Obot also, featured critical thinking session where participants were asked to make a choice and give reasons for their choices and the surprise celebration of Dr. Obele’s birthday by the students of the YBS.

The YBS is an initiative of Sir Dr. Joseph Obele aimed at building human capacity in business and entrepreneurship in order to overcome what the proprietor describes as ‘granoemploment’ – a condition in which many upon graduation from the higher institutions do not find gainful employment. The YBS was launched in 2017 continues to offer free training, lecture materials and light refreshment to participants across the Niger Delta and is at the verge of perfecting a partnership with the Ken Saro-wiwa Polytechnic which will enable the YBS to train while the Polytechnic certifies.

Testimonies of successful business administration and initiation were offered by award winner, Ajiwa Celine Osaroekaa, an ankara fashion designer, Jonah Okpabi, a proprietor of a barber’s shop and Ikechi Nwogu who operates a private class to teach others.

Next month YBS promises to treat the “Reinforcement Strategic Business Growth.”
