An indigene of Ebubu Community in Eleme Local Government Area has called on the members of the public to join him in a protest against Google Map for listing his community as Ogoni instead of Ebubu. The man had reached out to having made several pleas to Google map for a correction to be done but to no avail.

“Imagine delineating a location opposite the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ebubu as Ogoni. In fact, draw an arbitrary delineation line and call Ebubu community Ogoni all because of the oil and gas resources plus historic spill site,” he lamented. The gentleman had appealed to to conceal his identity for security reasons. “This is deliberate. I have raised protest and counter protest to Google to correct this anomaly.” He claims that there have been several attempts by a neighbouring community to absolve his into that enclave. He said that, it was wrong to fight for justice in an unjust way.

Recently, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered Shell Development Company of Nigeria, SPDC to pay N45.9 billion Ejamah Clan in Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, as monetary compensation to affected community for oil spillage in 21 days but it was reported as Ogoni.

Members of the society are hereby called to be wary of the wrong information until Google map corrects that anomaly.
