HRH Appolus Chu Leads as Prominent Eleme Traditional Ruler is Laid to Rest
The Egbere Emere Okori 1 of Eleme, HRH Emere Amb. Appolus Chu has led other Eleme Traditional Rulers to bid the Paramount Ruler of Aluejor Makani clan of Agbonchia, His Highness, Emere Johnson Nwafor Okparaji Saloka KSC in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State farewell as he joins his ancestors.
HH Emere John Nwafor Okparaji Saloka who hails from the land priest clan of Nchia District and Agbonchia community, passed on since 13th July 2021, aged 64 and laid to rest according to custom and tradition on 27th October 2021.
A yam title holder, Emere Ngei Chu says when a traditional ruler of such repute passes on; “Only the King in council can perform the burial rites.” And that necessitated the presence of HRH Emere Appolus Chu at the funeral ceremony. He said that is the basis for which the deceased can be accepted by his ancestors in the spirit realm. Emere Ngei Chu emphasized that for traditionalists and adherents, prayers offered by the Ruler with a bottle of hard drink around the ambulance and casket calls for the spirit of the departed to watch over his family and chase away evil from their land.
